Here’s to a great week of workouts and healthy eating girls! It’s always so worth it, no matter what your mind tries to tell you late at night when confronted with biscuits. Keep on track, eating crap is pointless.
Q.I am 39 years of age and I have struggled to lose the extra weight on my stomach since giving birth to my second child three years ago. Do you have any advice for me on how I can tone up my belly and lose the extra fat? I am trying to cut down on the junk food but I wonder if there are any exercise moves that would help to shift it faster?
Lots of interval training and compound exercises will shift belly fat, stomach work won’t. You need to burn fat, in order to lose weight from your stomach, so that means building lean muscle, which effectively burns fat, and gets you into great shape.
Squats, Lunges, Press-ups, running and skipping, are examples of exercises, you need to incorporate into a workout, to shift fat from your stomach.
Make sure you work hard and build up a sweat, aim to workout 4-5 times per week for 20-30 minutes. Go for a 15 minute run (walk or jog, whatever you can manage), finish off with squats, lunges and press ups, and you’ll have a flatter stomach in no time.
As regards your diet, if you cut carbohydrates out after 5pm, this works a treat!
