Time is our most important asset these days. We’re just so busy. Between family, relationships, friends, work, it never stops. But do you want to be one of those people that runs around, never taking care of themselves and all of a sudden, your kids are a little older, you haven’t taken care of yourself and you ask yourself ‘Where has the time gone’?
From working with so many women, I hear this so often. They haven’t been spending any time on themselves. They’ve lost the very essence of who they are.
And for many women, that can mean, you’re unhappy with your shape, your fitness levels, and the amount of time they you to spend on yourself, which in turn feeds into self-esteem, confidence, quality of life, and how happy/unhappy you are.
Now what can you do, during the week that will combat all of those at the same time?
Workout! And THAT IS WHY working out, on your own, with a group or with a personal trainer, is the single best thing you can do for yourself. Why?
- You get to spend one glorious hour, 3 times per week on you.
- You get your shape back and feel more like you again.
- You get fit while spending this hour on you
- While you’re getting fit, and spending time on yourself, your health improves, which means your stress, worry and fear of the future all decrease.
But don’t make the mistake of doing something that’s not going to get you results. While it’s great to get out and walk, wow, there’s so many benefits, if its not getting you results, to hit all those 4 points above, then don’t count it.
Does it get you results? Yes, stick with it.
Does it not get you results? Do something extra, or bin it completely.
So what’s the best thing you can do for yourself, to get your shape back, in the minimum amount of time, that will flatten your stomach to pre-kids days, and leave you feeling amazing?
Weights & interval training.
Interval training is the single best thing you can do, to increase your metabolism. Interval training will turn you into a calorie-burning machine, making you burns loads of calories, while you’re sitting at your desk.. while you’re sitting at your desk!!! You’ll burn twice as much calories on a daily basis, as someone who just walks for a workout.
Weights? You’ve got to build lean muscle. Thats skinny, lean, attractive muscle, that makes your clothes look really good, and gets rid of lumps and bumps, so you don’t feel the need to hide anymore, and your clothes fit. Does that sound good? It is BRILLIANT.
A combination of both, done three times per week, is going to get you looking and feeling amazing.
You don’t need to stick a barbell on your back and squat 100 kilos. Lifting weights or resistance training, is just about building lean muscle, and can be done in so many ways.
Interval training, where you work and rest for short intervals, is so super efficient, and gives you the biggest return for the smallest amount of time. Here’s a short video to give you an idea.
I hope you enjoy this blog post. Remember that everyone goes through not feeling great about themselves. I gained so much weight with my second child Emily, and it took me so long to lose it. It took me so long to lose it, because I didn’t stick to what works. Which is the small daily habits every day that lead to success, and not big dramatic action. So now I workout consistently, every single week. I never miss it. And I’ve learnt a big lesson. It doesn’t matter how fit you are now, or how fit you’ve been in the past, it doesn’t mean you won’t struggle with it in the future. And if you do struggle, that’s OK. Get up, give it another go, until you hit success again.
What drives me is that I’m happier being fit. I love being fit. It gives me confidence to get more out of life. I laugh more. I’m better, in every way, when I’m fit. You’ve got to build a routine in your life that makes it simple to workout.
And it’s got to be results driven. Does it get you results? Yes? Keep it up! No, get rid!
Committed to your success,
Jessica
