It’s not very healthy to be so super busy, and to be juggling 1001 things, but this is the reality of life for many women. While it can feel for a while that you’re super woman, and you’ve become an expert at juggling so many different things, sooner or later it all comes crashing down. And that crashing down is you.
It’s too easy to go through highs and lows while living your life. Feeling able to tackle it all for a while, then getting over-whelmed and coming crashing to earth, and then getting too busy all over again. Many women I meet, who start our #FEELGOODÂ programs, have experienced this crash, and because of this want to start taking care of their health. However, what can often happen, is that as soon as you start to feel good again, you start to again neglect your health.
This can be why for a lot of women where the yo- yo effect comes in. Up a few pounds, down a few pounds, a constant battle to feel good in your clothes. Many women just presume this is an inability to stop eating so much for a sustainable period of time. In fact, it can largely be put down to the fact that yet again, you’ve put yourself last.
Here’s a few warning signs that you’re mentally exhausted and need to start taking care of yourself.
You’re irritable easily.
Whatever that means to you. Rows at home, small things really getting under your skin, noises annoying you that you’ve no control over. Feeling irritable all the time is a big warning sign.
You can’t sleep or sleep is disturbed.
Grinding your teeth, tossing and turning. Warning signs, you’re over-loaded and doing too much.
Your anxiety has increased.
People who have anxiety, and there’s a huge amount of people who have anxiety, have a really tough time. Can you imagine having a horrible friend follow you around everywhere telling you, you can’t do anything? That’s what anxiety can feel like for so many. Getting to a point of over-whelm can bring about a huge increase in anxiety.
Your motivation levels are at an all-time low.
Feeling de-motivated often comes from working or doing too much. Simple things now feel like a challenge. A big warning sign is the all-day longing for the couch and comfort food, at the end of the day. This is a massive warning sign your life is out of balance.
You feel like crying for no reason.
You’re tired, you’re over-whelmed, take this as a warning sign that you need to address the balance in your life.
If you’re feeling right now, mentally exhausted, there’s three things you can start right away to get you feeling good and back on track. However, you need to keep these three things up permanently: Rest, Exercise and a healthy diet.
Rest.
Presuming you have normal hours, get to bed by the latest at 10:30pm. Your brain needs time to process things while asleep. Consuming alcohol, however small, doesn’t count a a restful night. You need to give your brain time to recharge, drug free. Go to bed with a good book. This is the very best thing you can do for yourself. If you find it hard to sleep, exercise will help with that so much.
Exercise.
We’ve changed so many lives at Inspire Fitness through resistance training with cardio. It’s been proven time and again that this type of training is amazing for your muscles, bones, mental health, weight and happiness levels. You sleep better, you become more in control of your food. It’s utterly life-changing. It gives you a huge hit of the feel good hormone dopamine and I couldn’t recommend this type of medicine, I mean exercise, enough!
Healthy food.
No shakes, no high fat, high protein, no low carbs, no diets, just healthy food, most days of the week. That’s it. No secret. Healthy food, regularly throughout the day. 3 meals and 2 snacks. Allow yourself nights off at the weekend if you wish, but Monday to Friday fuel your body well. Drink two litres of water every day.
I hope this helps,
