The link between physical fitness & career success for women.

Being fit to get ahead in life, is something I don’t think is spoken about enough. There are so many advertisements promoting weight loss products and programs, but a lot of them are so focused on the scales, rather than actual health.

And it never really encourages anyone to think about the impact of being fit, and what it could actually do to their life.

Long gone are the days of overweight men sitting in boardrooms, being the ones getting ahead. Now it’s all about physically fit men and women, working towards getting ahead of their game, by being fit, eating right and knowing that success in your career, also comes from being successful in other areas of your life too.

Whether we like it or not, we’re judged by our appearance. And when you arrive at an interview, or you’re pushing to get a promotion, or just be noticed, being overweight holds you back.

It’s presumed that you’re lazy, there’ll be extra sick days, and that if you can’t control your weight, what else can you not control? This is a complete myth but unfortunately, too many people think this way.

Not only that, but to  get ahead you need to be physically fit.

Out of 1300  executives  surveyed (who earn more than €100,000 per year),  75 percent said good physical fitness is “critical for career success at the executive level.” Seventeen percent, by contrast, said staying in shape is “a nice goal, but secondary to fiscal fitness.”

The founder and CEO of that executive search firm said, “Good physical fitness is critical to success as an executive in today’s work world. The days of a little extra padding being a sign of maturity and success are gone.”  When asked about obesity, 75% of executives said that being overweight is a “serious career impediment.”

Not only are your chances of a promotion increased if you look the part, you’ll get such amazing benefits from being fit, that will keep you ahead of the game.

Here’s the list:

Improved stamina and energy

Enhanced ability

You’ll be more capable of solving problems

Your confidence will improve

Your stress will reduce, and you’ll have a higher resistance to illness

You’ll naturally get better eating habits

The feel good hormones released, will leave you calm and more likely to think strategically, rather than react to situations too soon.

You’ll be sharp and more focused.

A good mix of resistance training, with cardio and good nutrition, will get you on top of your game. Workout 3-4 times per week, for a minimum of 45 minutes at a time, and in a few short weeks, you’ll notice a difference in your performance.

A healthy combination of protein, carbohydrates and fats, will fuel your body for optimal health, and you’ll soon feel ready to approach each work day with confidence. Here’s my free 10 Day Fitness Challenge to get you started
